OTW Board Meeting, October 10, 2026
The OTW Board will be holding its next public meeting at 01:00 October 10 UTC (what time is that for me?). This meeting will be held in the Board Discord server. The server will have a team of moderators and a set of rules (including question rules) and community guidelines. The server will remain open even after the meeting, but the channels for meeting and asking questions will be read-only. Board will be posting replies to questions that do not get addressed during the scheduled meeting two weeks after the meeting in the server’s #questions-answers channel. Cardie-ologist & Henrietta Wotton Fanfics are Moving to AO3
The works of Cardie-ologist/Henrietta Wotton, are being imported to the Archive of Our Own (AO3). These were the pseudonyms of a much loved and respected member of the online Star Trek: Deep Space Nine fandom in the late 90s and early 00s. As Cardie-ologist, they contributed to zines such as Scaly Tales, and as Henrietta Wotton, they had fics that won the ASC Awards multiple times. Unfortunately, they passed away in 2025. It is thanks to friends that we are able to preserve their works for posterity. I. SPOTLIGHT ON GOVERNANCE August saw three new OTW Board Directors announced: congratulations to Jennifer Howard, Rebecca C. Moritz, and Theodore Bloyd. Thank you to our outgoing Board Directors Anh Pham and Qiao Chu! Board and Board Assistants Team have begun preparing for Board turnover, which will happen on October 1. On August 1, Board held a public meeting with 37 attendees. Minutes are available on the OTW website. Fanlore Security Incident
On August 6, 2026, at approximately 01:30 UTC, the OTW discovered unauthorized access to the server hosting Fanlore by unknown third parties. Additionally, the third party leveraged Discord permission vulnerabilities to post spam on the official Fanlore Discord server. If you have a Fanlore account, find further information below about what happened and what next steps you might need to take. What Happened An attacker gained access to Fanlore’s files and database.
