Position Title: Internal Complaint and Conflict Resolution Volunteer

Committee: Volunteers & Recruiting Committee Internal Complaint and Conflict Resolution Subcommittee
Reports to: Internal Complaint and Conflict Resolution Lead
Time Requirements: 5 hours/week (flexibility is allowed, as long as volunteers stay engaged)
Exclusions:
- Must not hold a position on any other committee of the Organization for Transformative Works, outside of Volunteers & Recruiting, at the time of induction
- Must not hold a seat on the Board of Directors
Term: 1 year (including a 2-week mandatory break at the time of the volunteer’s choice, and a 2-week break for the entire subcommittee at the end of the calendar year, separate from any hiatuses)
Role overview: Internal Complaint and Conflict Resolution volunteers review, investigate, and adjudicate internal complaints filed for the entire organization; recommend corrective and preventive action plans and procedures for volunteers; review and manage the appeals process for complaints; mediate between parties in conflict and serve as a neutral party for personnel-related issues; and moderate open cross-committee and social cross-committee channels on the OTW chat platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate, mediate, review, and adjudicate cases in accordance with the relevant processes, including:
- Misconduct reports.
- Interpersonal conflicts.
- Complaints.
- Appeals.
- Manage cases, updates and communication in a timely manner.
- Assist committee chairs and leads in developing corrective action plans for their volunteers.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and careful adherence to OTW and ICCR policies and procedures.
- Collaborative Internal Complaint and Conflict Resolution work, including:
- Development, implementation, and review of Internal Complaint and Conflict Resolution policies and procedures.
- Review and maintenance of the Internal Complaint and Conflict Resolution system database.
- Creation of resource materials, and conduction of audits.
- Active participation in weekly subcommittee meetings & work parties.
Experience:
Experience related to one or more of the below is desirable:
- Human resource management or volunteer management
- Mediation or conflict resolution
- Documentation writing and/or training
- Formal email drafting

Training requirements:
- Internal Complaint and Conflict Resolution volunteers will be trained in all required tools, skills, and tasks as detailed in the VolCom Internal Complaint and Conflict Resolution Subcommittee Volunteer Training Plan.
