Position Title: Finance Committee Financial Analyst

Time Requirements: Approx. 5-7 hours a week.

Term: 2 year

Role overview: Finance members are responsible for keeping the accounting books and records accurate and up to date, tracking payments, contributing to the annual budget process, ensuring the OTW meets its tax filing requirements, and creating internal documentation for Finance Committee policies and procedures.

Date of position description review: August 2020 (annually)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the OTW’s financial records
  • Ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations and integrity of financial data
  • Develops, maintains, and reviews policies and procedures for accounting internal control
  • Assists in creating Annual Financial Statements and other financial reports as needed
  • Collaborates with other Finance volunteers to carry out tasks and projects
  • Takes the lead on projects like the annual audit or budget prep as requested by the Finance Chair(s)
  • Communicates with OTW volunteers about expenses, examining, and verifying invoices and receipts
  • Helps with budget preparation and regular budget updates
  • Attends regular meetings and participates in committee discussions via email and chat
  • Trains new Finance volunteers in committee processes and policies

Experience:

  • Knowledge of accounting theory and workflows required
  • Previous professional experience in the Finance industry preferred
  • Knowledge of US accounting practices, such as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), preferred
  • Knowledge of federal and state (Delaware, specifically) tax requirements for US non-profit organizations preferred
  • Experience with Quickbooks or other accounting systems preferred
  • CPA license or other related finance licenses a bonus
