Position Title: Fanlore Committee Social Media Moderator

Reports to: Fanlore Committee Chair
Time Requirements: 3-4 hours per week
Term: 1 year
Role Overview: Social Media Moderators are responsible for collecting content for a specific Fanlore social media account, engaging followers, and monitoring replies to social engagement posts and official news on that account.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curate content for the social media platform in line with Fanloreās scope and purpose.
- Maintain awareness of discussions on the platform relevant to Fanlore.
- Follow committee guidelines on site content and interaction with users.
- Deliver timely responses to user inquiries as submitted through the platform.
- Engage regularly with followers (as appropriate to the platform).
- Attend meetings and participate in discussions outside of meeting times via email and chat to advance the committee’s projects and activities.
- Communicate with fellow volunteers with regards to the status of the Fanlore social media account.
- Communicate with Fanlore chairs with regards to availability, progress on tasks, and any issues that arise that may impact committee work.
Experience:
- Experience with blogging and social media required; experience in public relations or customer service preferred
- Prior Fanlore editing experience not required
Skills and Attributes:
- English fluency
- Ability to work independently on tasks
- Familiarity with a social media platform Fanlore uses such as Twitter or Tumblr required; knowledge of best practices or experience in social media from an organizational perspective preferred
- Strong communication skills, with an understanding and awareness of social media trends
- Commitment to diversity in content development
Training Requirements:
New Fanlore volunteers will be provided information and training by the Fanlore Chair(s) in each of the following areas:
- Social media policy guidelines and how-to for the specific site being moderated
- Fanlore Committee internal documentation
- Fanlore Committee software tools
- Fanlore Committee social media scheduled post workflow
