Position Title: Board Assistants Team Volunteer
Committee: Board Assistants Team (BAT)
Reports to: BAT Chairs
Time Requirements: 3 to 5 hours per week
Term: 1 year
Role overview: BAT volunteers support the OTW at-large and the OTW Board through administrative work and project management. Duties include moderating the Board Discord, copy editing communications, reviewing and writing documentation, and assisting with research projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Write and edit BAT and Board content, such as documentation, statements, replies to public questions, policies, and reports
- Work closely with other volunteers and other committees to complete projects or provide assistance
- Assist in the research, development, management, and delivery of internal projects
- Lead special projects to create new policies, both for Board and for specific committees
- Help coordinate public Board meetings on Discord, including moderating the chat and responding to questions from the public
- Provide general assistance, feedback, and support to the Board
Skills, Experience, and Attributes
- Ability to take the initiative and work independently, planning, prioritizing and organizing tasks to meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills, particularly written
- Ability to take and also give criticism and feedback
- Well developed creative and analytical problem solving skills
- Ability to think strategically about both the big picture and smaller details
Requirements
- Must be willing to agree to confidentiality and confict of interest policies
- Must not be a member of more than three OTW committees, including BAT. Exceptions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by BAT Chairs, taking into account the workload required by each of the roles held by the volunteer
Role Restrictions
- A volunteer cannot be in training (including any probationary periods) for both BAT and another committee at the same time.
- BAT members cannot be current Board members, former Board members whose term ended less than 2 years ago, Chairs of any other committee, or Elections Voting Process Architects.
Training Requirements
- Volunteers will be trained in all required tools, skills, and tasks as detailed on the BAT Volunteer Training Plan.
