Researchers may submit requests for the OTW to boost fan studies research projects to Communications, as long as the following criteria are met:

Institutional Review Board or Ethics Approval

The project should be reviewed and approved by an Institutional Review Board or Ethics Committee.

If you’re an independent researcher without institutional affiliation who is unable to get approval, you may instead submit a curriculum vitae detailing relevant past work and credentials, along with links to any publicly available prior research.

Participant Consent Documentation

Your request must include (or link to) a consent form for participants. This form should clearly state:

• Age restrictions (participants must be 18 years or older)
• Purpose and usage of collected data
• Detailed research procedures (especially if not an online survey)
• Who will access the data, and the measures taken to ensure participant privacy

We will not boost research requests that do not specify all of the above.

Please provide full contact details for all researchers, including institutional affiliations (if applicable), email addresses, physical mailing addresses, and supervisor or supervisory committee details (if applicable).
