Refer to the Contact page for advice on common committees to contact. If you need more information to determine which committee you’d like to contact, a complete list of OTW committees is available on the Committees page. If you aren’t sure who to contact, select Communications and they’ll forward your message to the correct committee as needed.
Who is welcome to use the OTW services and to volunteer?
Anyone. We welcome everyone who wishes to discuss sources (shows, bands, sports players, anime, etc.) and fandom. We welcome everyone who creates or enjoys fanfiction, vids, fanart, and other kinds of transformative works. We hope that our projects and committees can be a place where fans can gather, and we hope for it to be a space where everyone feels welcome. What does “transformative work” mean?
A transformative work takes something extant and turns it into something with a new purpose, sensibility, or mode of expression. Based on precedent set in the United States Supreme Court, the OTW defines “transformative use” as adding something new, with a further purpose or different character, altering the source with new expression, meaning, or message. Transformative works include, but are not limited, to fanfiction, real person fiction, fan vids, and fan art.
