Transformative Works and Cultures (TWC) provides a space for academic analysis of individual transformative works and the larger culture of fandom from which they come, helping to demonstrate the social, educational, and aesthetic value of fandom and fannish works.

TWC values helping fans who are interested in engaging in fandom from theoretical and academic perspectives share their scholarship more widely. This improves communication between fans and academia, and provides a theoretical background for OTW’s mission to promote scholarship on fanworks and fan practices. In addition to publishing scholarship on transformative works and the fan community, TWC strives to explain the context of particular works and help establish fanworks as creative art forms in their own right.
