Diversity Consultant Research Officer recruitment
Since the last meeting we have finalised the position description and started looking for someone to fill that role.
So far we haven’t found anyone but it’s not been too long yet, and we do plan to signal boost the opening again at the start of next year, as well as ask our committee chairs if they think some of their people are potential candidates for the role.
Questions:
Is the job description on the OTW website?
This is something that we’re currently advertising for internally, since we think an internal candidate would be best placed to fill the role but if we have no luck with an internal candidate we will probably broaden our approach.
Will this be the person’s sole job, or can they keep the job they currently have, too?
People will be allowed to focus as much as they need to on the research. We can work out some hiatus arrangements with any committee they come from if they want to pause their other roles. Different volunteer roles in the OTW require different time commitments, so they can absolutely make the decision they think is best for their availability
But they won’t have to quit tag wrangling, eg, if they don’t want to?
No. That’s all their own choice.

Does the search for a Diversity Consultant Research Officer mean you definitely intend to hire a paid Diversity Consultant?
We have to find out if we can find one that wants to work with us first. But if we can then the plan is to do so, yes. Wants to work with us and sees themselves able to work with us, a lot of them don’t seem to deal with online only orgs for example.
I wanted to ask about the Dream SMP tagging situation – is there any information that could be shared that wasn’t already in the email that was sent out to those who had sent tickets? I wanted to ask because the fandom has been discussing it for a while and I’d like to be able to pass on any kind of official news or information that can be shared. Sorry for this being a kind of specific/niche question, just thought I might as well ask just in case. 😅
It’s fine to ask just in case, but unfortunately that is the purview of our Tag Wrangling committee and we don’t have any more insight into it.
It’s more of a finance question, but how’s the foundation planning going?
We couldn’t get hold of our Treasurer during the meeting, so we’ll try to get an update in time for the next meeting.
