We are incredibly excited to announce that AO3 now has over 15 million fanworks! Last year in May we celebrated 13 million works on the site. Two million new works in one year is an incredible achievement. And to think it took more than four years to reach one million works when AO3 was first founded!
We would not be here without your love for fandom, your dedication, and your ceaseless enthusiasm and creativity. Kudos to all of you! However you choose to contribute to fandom, you are invaluable to our community.

My wife introduced me to writing fanfics a few years ago, and since I dabbled in writing already she encouraged me to contribute to a couple exchanges. Now Ao3 has helped us have quality time as a couple, whether by reading fanworks together, talking about ideas, or beta reading each other’s work.
I love the commitment to positive feedback and learning that so many varied communities have on this site, and the place that fandom takes in wider culture. Taking established stories and iterating, retelling, twisting, feels like the oral tradition for the age of the internet, and I am honored to be a part of that tradition.

I’ve been creating works for these last few years, and I’ve never been disappointed in my experience.
AO3 is literally my life! I started out as an avid commenter (still is) but I’m also a writer of fanfics, which gives me immense pleasure. Podfics are also something I enjoy listening to (it’s an everyday occurrence)
Without the archive, life would be dull and far less interesting 🩵✨

I was a reader and commenter first– I originally got an AO3 so I could make use of bookmarks and reading history haha, though I hoped to start posting someday. It took a couple of years, but I did. :D I consider AO3 my second and “true” (for lack of a better word) phase of creating fanworks, as I hadn’t posted on FF.net or elsewhere for several years by the time I joined AO3. 2014 and the Attack On Titan anime singlehandedly brought me back to fic-writing with a vengeance (also back to Tumblr :3).
I used to only use AO3 for reading and commenting, keeping my fics on my Google drive for only close friends to read. After posting my first fic to the archive a couple years ago, I’ll never go back! It’s so fun to share my work and to encourage other writers. I love it.

I write fic (slowly) , and I read, give Kudos, and comment on every chapter of every fic I enjoy!
I read a lot and make sure to comment and give kudos often to encourage authors in their creations!
